Jena Irene Ascuitto is best known as Jena Irene, the first runner-up on last year’s American Idol. Since then, she’s signed a long-term record deal with a new Detroit record label called Original 1265 Recordings.

Original 1265 co-founder Sarah Clayman said of Jena, “Her voice is a force of nature…We didn’t hesitate to sign her.” The 18-year-old is recording at Studio A in Dearborn, Michigan. “She is an alternative singer-songwriter and on this debut album she speaks to her generation,” says Clayman. Cold Fame will be released later in the year.
