A 9-year-old Canadian hockey player made the decision to quit his hockey team. There were only two games left in the season but “when you find yourself crying on the bench because…you have only played two shifts in the game, no matter how important that game is…it is time to have a talk with yourself and re-evaluate why we do this.” That’s what Sam Lescarbeau and his father Yannick wrote in an open letter to everyone on Sam’s team.
Dad Lescarbeau made it clear that he didn’t have any beef with the coaches of the Westside Knights but “it was really sad to see him (Sam) crying in the middle of the bench with his gloves off when he watched the same kids over and over on the ice.”
