On the TV series Wolf Hall on Masterpiece–the highly regarded adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Booker Prize-winning novels--Thomas Cromwell (Mark Rylance) is left to orchestrate a marriage between Henry and Anne Boleyn (Claire Foy). Henry VIII is portrayed by English actor Damian Lewis.
Lewis is best known for his roles as Nicholas Brody in Homeland, as Soames Forsyte in The Forsyte Saga, and Richard Winters in Band of Brothers. He’s currently working on another highly anticipated TV series called Billions. Lewis plays Bobby Axelrod, a hedge fun king who’s being pursued by US Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti). Billions is created by New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, who is also the executive producer. Wolf Hall airs Sundays at 10pm on PBS.
