In order to keep his job, Detective Backstrom must impress his physician, Dr. Deb Chaman. The problem is Backstrom has been lying to the doctor ever since they met. But now Dr. Chaman has discovered the truth. Backstrom is not sober and he continues to smoke cigars although his lungs are congested. The doctor threatens to send his recommendation of relieving Backstrom from active duty to Backstrom’s boss, the chief of police.
Dr. Deb is portrayed by Rizwan Manji. He’s best known for his roles in The Wolf of Wall Street (Kalil) and Transformers (Akram). You can also see him in the forthcoming films The Bounce Back with Criminal Minds’ Shemar Moore and the sci-fi/drama Equals with Kristen Stewart, Nicholas Huolt and Guy Pearce. Backstrom airs Thursdays at 9pm on Fox.
