Detective Backstrom’s father is Sheriff Blue Backstrom. While the younger Backstrom’s memories of his father are muddied by abuse (he hates his father), the town respects the sheriff for his savvy police work. Now Backstrom “must make a decision when he suspects his father knows about a meth dealer’s activities.”
Backstrom’s dad is portrayed by Robert Forster. He’s best known for his roles in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown (bondsman Max Cherry) and in Alexander Payne’s The Descendants (George Clooney’s father-in-law). Forster also plays Tim Allen’s father, Bud Baxter, on the TV series Last Man Standing. Backstrom airs Thursdays at 9pm on Fox.
