Country rising stars Meghan Linsey and fiance Joshua Scott Jones were known as the singing duo Steel Magnolia. They won CMT’s “Can You Duet?” and got signed by Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records. But when Jones’ hit rock bottom while struggling with substance abuse, the two broke up. All the way up–their own engagement ended and they, as a musical act, ended all other engagements.
Linsey is now working on her solo career, competing on The Voice. And Jones, now sober, recently released his first solo album, The Healing. One of the songs on the album, Just How a Heart Breaks was written in rehab. He said he wrote it in 10 minutes, and that at least half of the album is about his relationship with Linsey. She has co-writing credits on the uptempo, breakup song called “Whiskey Anthem.”
