Michelle Young was five-months pregnant with her second child when she was brutally beaten and murdered in her home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Nine hours after the attack, she was found dead in her master bedroom. Her 2-year-old daughter was also found, unharmed, hiding under her parents’ bed.
Michelle’s husband, Jason Young, had an alibi: he was away on business, about 160 miles away, on the Virginia-North Carolina border with a hotel receipt to prove it. Prosecutors claim Jason Young left the hotel and drove home to kill his wife and then stopped on his way back to get gas at 5 am where he argued with the station’s attendant. In addition to the gas station attendant, testimony was heard from employees of the day care center where the Youngs’ two-year-old daughter attended. They testified that six days after the crime, the little girl “re-enacted her mother’s attack with two dolls that resembled her parents.” Jason Young was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2012. Jason Young is serving life in prison. Keith Morrison reports new details in the case on Dateline NBC on Friday, April 3, 10pm.
