Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) will star as Wilson Fisk–AKA Kingpin–in the Netflix 13-episode season of Marvel’s Daredevil. The Kingpin character is a slave to his emotions–a volatile, insecure, arrested adolescent-type possessing little self-control who’s prone to rage and violent outbursts.
D’Onofrio’s most famous character, Law & Order‘s Robert Goren, spent every episode using his formidable intelligence to keep his dark impulses–never far from the surface–at bay. He barely succeeded and the tension created by Goren’s battle for self-mastery drove the drama. For the role of Kingpin, D’Onofrio has bulked up to 300 pounds and shaved his head. The camera has always loved the 6’3″ D’Onofrio–and it will worship him in Daredevil. Some actors just pull the universe–even the Marvel Universe–toward them. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin could easily steal the show.
