On The Blacklist, Red Reddington (James Spader) gets involved in a dangerous game with a wealthy and powerful family. The family amassed their “ill-begotten fortune from an underground auction of human contraband.” Spader is captured and put on auction for $19 million. The patriarch of the family is T. Earl King VI. He’s portrayed by Shakespearian actor Jeffrey DeMunn who’s well versed in playing antagonists.
After graduating from Union College, DeMunn studied in England at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. When he returned to the States he became a member of the National Shakespeare Company. He played the main antagonist in Shakespeare’s King Lear (Edmund) for two years. The Blacklist viewers might recognize the 67-year-old as Dale Horvath in The Walking Dead or Andrei Chikatilo in Citizen X. DeMunn also won accolades for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Majestic, among other films. The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 9pm on NBC.
