On Agents of SHIELD, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) turns to her ex-husband, Dr. Andrew Garner, to help with a crisis threatening the harmony of the team. Dr. Garner is a neurologist and forensic psychologist who specializes in working with gifted individuals on the Index.
Yes, that’s Blair Underwood playing Garner. Underwood is best known for his roles as Jonathan Rollins on L.A. Law, Dr. Ben Turner in City of Angels, Dr. Robert Leeds in Sex and the City, Dr. Arthur Bindlebeep in Fatherhood, and Daniel Harris in The New Adventures of Old Christine. Underwood tends to get cast as a doctor so we’re glad to hear that his next big role is one of an outspoken media personality. He’s currently filming the upcoming thriller Camelot’s Cousin, based on the spy novel Camelot’s Cousin: The Spy Who Betrayed Kennedy by David R. Stokes about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Underwood plays a present day radio talk show host (also a former Rhodes scholar) who investigates the journal of one of President Kennedy’s closest friends–who turned out to be a Soviet spy. Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 9pm on ABC.
