The Toyota Corolla of airlines, Ireland’s popular barebones Ryanair, announced plans to begin offering bargain basement fares between the US and Europe. How low are prices in the basement? A New York to Dublin flight could start at $14 — or just £10.
Ryanair flies more passengers than any other airline in Europe–and it’s been aggressive in expanding operations. The new plan, slated to go live within five years, would feature 14 cities including London, Dublin, Berlin, New York, Boston and Washington. The airline needs to acquire “viable long haul aircraft” to complete its plan–thus the five year wait. Bag check is very unlikely to be included.
