On the hit TV comedy Portlandia, married couple Dave (Fred Armisen) and Kath (Carrie Brownstein) attend an event where legendary singer and songwriter Paul Simon is promoting his fictitious book, “You Can Call Me Al.” After the interview, Simon agrees to take questions from the audience. Dave and Kath are desperate to make a good impression on Paul Simon. When handed the microphone, their eagerness produces nothing close to a question or a relevant comment.
When Dave asks Paul Simon a ridiculous question about not being able to understand Gaelic music, Simon plays the perfect straight man. Portlandia airs Thursdays at 10pm on IFC.
