It’s hard to imagine–as used to happen in old children’s books–calling the fire department to get your cat out of a tree. It’s even harder to imagine calling the FDNY, the largest municipal fire department in the nation. But that doesn’t mean New York’s Bravest don’t love cats. They do. They really, really do. So much that their kitties are catching fire on social media.
On Instagram, midtownboogieFDNY has more than 11,000 followers purring while having the run of the firehouse. And Rae Votta at The Daily Dot reports that Carlow (carlow_fdny_ca), a cat who makes its home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, has even more followers–over 17,000! Carlow, named after the local pub, is really “a firehouse dog trapped in a cat’s body.”
