A Kickstarter campaign for a Dungeons & Dragons themed tavern was a roll of the polyhedral dice for entrepreneurs Melissa and Manny Garza. And it was awesome. The Garzas’ idea to build an imbibing sanctuary for D&D players called Dungeons & Drafts in Ft. Collins, Colorado got an immediate and elated response, raising nearly $60,000. They’d asked for only $9,600.
The creative endeavor, which grew out of the founders “bemoaning the lack of geek friendly establishments that serve alcohol,” won 507 backers. It was a Staff Pick (of course it was!) at Kickstarter. Assuming nerds and geeks don’t go out and socialize is “dead wrong; just take a look at Comic Con” reads the Dungeons & Drafts story. They plan to have 20 taps at Dungeons & Drafts.
