Actor Craig T Nelson (Parenthood) starred in the hit sitcom Coach in the 1990s. He’s now getting the chance to play Hayden Fox again, the beloved, cranky head coach of the fictious Minnesota State University’s Screaming Eagles. NBC signed Nelson up for 13-episodes.
This time around Hayden will come out of retirement to become the assistant coach to his son, who’s the head coach at an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania. Yes, his son. Eighteen years ago, at the end of Coach, Hayden and his new wife Christine adopt a child. During its run, Coach received multiple Emmy nominations. Nelson won one in 1992 and so did guest star Tim Conway in 1996.
