Canadian actress Alberta Watson was best known for her role as Special Agent Erin Driscoll on the TV series 24. She died this week after a long battle with cancer. She was 60.
Watson’s most recent role was as Senator Madeline Pierce on Nikita. She will also be remembered for her role as Susan Aibelli, the mother in David O. Russell’s (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter) 1994 film about incest, Spanking the Monkey. Of that role Watson said: “It didn’t scare me at all. I seized the character and made her something. She was a deeply disturbed woman with a roller coaster of emotions. Her son visits for the summer and she’s laid up with a broken leg and things get out of hand.”
