On the reality TV show Love & Hip Hop, Peter Gunz is trying to be a better man. He’s trying to prove to his new wife Amina that he’s not a lying scumbag. (His words.) Why would his wife think he’s a scumbag? Just before Amina had his baby girl Cori, Peter went on vacation with his ex Tara and their two sons. It was planned months before, but still. When he got back, Amina’s sister, Jazz, let Peter have it. Jazz told him that letting his two sons believe he’s still with Tara and keeping them in the dark about his new family is wrong. Peter got it, kind of.
So what’s he do? Peter decides to bring the two families together. He picks a nice pizza place in Queens to introduce Tara and his sons to Amina and Cori. But when it comes to introducing Amina to the boys, she’s introduced as the mother of their new sister, not their stepmother. “That hurts,” says Amina. Peter makes the best of an awkward situation and plays the irresistible card: he passes Cori to Tara, who can’t help but melt and speak sweetly. (She’s a mom, after all.) It breaks the ice. But how long do you think the kindness will last?
