On the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, soap opera actress Eileen Davidson hosts a “table read” for her husband’s Hollywood script. They invite former child stars Kim Richards and Kyle Richards, and “the two Lisas” – former actress Lisa Vanderpump and veteran soap opera actress Lisa Rinna. A table read, or read-through, is when actors gather around to read the lines of a play or film. Legendary filmmaker William Goldman described the table read as “the most important part of film production, because, if the script is right and the cast is right, there’s not much else that can go wrong.”
Well, things do go wrong at the Davidson/Van Patten table read. While Kim Richards once worked with Bette Davis decades ago, Rinna is a working actress. So it’s no wonder that Rinna gets insulted when Van Patten gives her the script for the narrator. “What a waste of my talent!” Rinna laughs. She’s consoled, kind of, when she discovers that Lisa Vanderpump only has two lines.
