The attorney Robert Kardashian died in 2003, after he worked on his friend O.J. Simpson’s circus-like murder trial– but before his daughter Kim Kardashian (and her siblings) started to break the Internet. Come to think of it, the elder Kardashian died before Web 2.o really got started. Back then social media was what you called it when you watched TV with friends. Ah, speaking of friends: in that simpler time there was a TV show called Friends that dominated American pop culture. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? There was an actress on the show named Jennifer Aniston, and she had hair. That was the plot, more or less. Ring a bell?
David Schwimmer, who played the beloved Ross Geller on Friends, returns to television acting this year as Robert Kardashian. Schwimmer hasn’t been on camera much since Friends made him and his co-stars fabulously rich. (Schwimmer’s mostly stuck with producing and directing.) But the Robert Kardashian role in The People v. O.J. Simpson–in the first season of the American Crime Story anthology from Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy–was apparently impossible to resist. Really, besides Kanye West, who gets to be a Kardashian? The TV Simpson trial is going to be star-studded affair, with John Travolta (Robert Shapiro) working with Schwimmer to defend Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Simpson).
