CBS’s 48 Hours is investigating whether an alleged religious cult formed within “The International House of Prayer,” was responsible for a young woman’s death. 27-year-old Bethany Deaton, who recently wed the alleged cult’s leader Tyler Deaton, was found with a bag over her head, an empty bottle of sleeping pills by her side, and a goodbye note. The medical examiner claimed it a suicide. But on the day of her funeral, Bethany’s friend Micah Moore confessed to her murder. He said Tyler Deaton told him to kill Bethany. The murder charge against Moore was recently dismissed. Bethany’s death remains a mystery.

48 Hours correspondent Troy Roberts interviews Deaton’s husband, Tyler, who says “my gift is something that is also a curse. I can be electric and magnetic. I can affect people.” While he admits that his relationship with Bethany was strained, he literally laughs at the notion that he would have had her murdered.
