30-year-old Richard Nixie was arrested and charged with “possession and taking alligators without a proper tag” according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Nixie caught five small (less than five feet) alligators and cut off their tails to cook and serve at his Super Bowl dinner. Nixie proved he was more in the mood for “beast mode” than Super Bowl losing Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who inexplicably refused to hand the ball to running back Marshawn Lynch with the game on the line.
According to the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission: “Each year, alligator management units are established with appropriate harvest quotas to provide recreational opportunities for Floridians and non-residents who are at least 18 years old to take up to 2 alligators per permit.
