Russian/German MMA fighter Dennis Siver will compete against Irish Conor McGregor at the UFC Fight Night. Not only is McGregor fighting in his American hometown, at TD Garden in Boston, but he’s best friends with UFC president Dana White. Everyone’s predicting McGregor will win. Current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo says: “Anything can happen, but I think this is a stand up fight and I think Conor will win. Dennis Siver has a chance, but at the end of the day Conor is going to get the win.”
But being the overlooked underdog (9-to-1 in Vegas) can motivate an athlete like Siver. Siver is looking on the positive side. He said: “It would have helped with a little more support from the UFC’s side, a little more promotion — but the flipside is I had more time to prepare for my fight because I wasn’t doing as much media. When it comes to the media and media coverage it’s definitely my biggest fight in the UFC, and it’s my first main event in the UFC. So I’m really looking forward to proving my worth on Sunday.” UFC Fight Night airs Sunday, January 18 at 7pm on Fox Sports 1.
