Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took a few well-aimed jabs at Hollywood celebrities, including a marvelous, if predictable joke at George Clooney’s expense. Mentioning the actor’s marriage to lawyer Amal Alamuddin, Tina Fey joked “Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an advisor to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three person UN commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award!”
Jokes about The Interview, Boyhood, Foxcatcher, and Birdman followed, but the two were just getting warmed up. They saved their biggest burns for beleagured Bill Cosby. “Proving nothing is sacred, Fey and Poehler then offered an alternative plot line for Into the Woods in which Sleeping Beauty just thought she was getting coffee with Bill Cosby,” reports Rolling Stone. Poehler and Fey then took turns with some vicious Cosby impressions, to a mixture of uproarious laughter and a few sharp intakes of breath from the audience.
