Joe Montana didn’t win the Heisman Trophy in his illustrious career at Notre Dame. But he doesn’t seem too bothered by the slight in a funny new commercial for AT&T. Sitting around getting ready to watch the College Football Playoff, Heisman Trophy winners Doug Flutie, Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson strike the Heisman pose in cushy chairs, all smiles.
Their boast gets spoiled pretty quickly though, as Montana sarcastically dismisses their Heisman-winning with a smirk. “What an accomplishment,” Montana says, as he flashes a hand replete with championship rings. (Montana won four Super Bowls with the 49ers and one national championship at Notre Dame in 1977.) It’s a fat golden handful of victory. What it has to do with what wireless carrier you should chose perhaps only the late Vince Lombardi (“winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing”) knows, but it’s an entertaining spot.
