Best-selling author Stephen King (Carrie, The Shining, The Stand, Misery, The Dark Tower) doesn’t “do too many charity events” but when the Library Foundation of Manatee County Public Libraries in Florida asked him to speak at their annual event, he agreed. Tickets went for $200 and sold out within weeks. The foundation met its goal of raising $150,000 to buy a new computer system for the library.
It wasn’t just Bradenton locals at the event. According to the local newspaper the Bradenton Herald, fans came from as far as Buenos Aires to hear King speak.
