Young dancer Maddie Ziegler from the Lifetime reality TV show Dance Moms is starring in another Sia music video. After the success of Chandelier, Maddie dons the Sia platinum blond wig again for Elastic Heart. This time Maddie is trapped in a domed metal cage with actor Shia LaBeouf. In the first 30 seconds, she scares the hell out of him. Her movements are spastic and creepy, as are Shia’s. They are animalistic. They retreat and then trust and then betray each other again. Hence, the Elastic Heart. Spoiler alert: Maddie escapes, she could have left at any time.
Out magazine wrote about the video and filed the story under Pornography, however, the intent of the song and video is not sexual. The song, which is featured in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, is reportedly about Sia’s “bi-polar disorder and the relationship with her father, who suffered from multiple personality disorder.”
