LeBron James gave rookie Coach David Blatt a solid push to the sidelines during yet another Cavaliers loss on Tuesday night. Symbolic as it may seem–the heat is on Blatt, as the Cavs continue to miss expectations–the James push was part of regulation NBA basketball. Blatt was on the court arguing with the referee and in danger of getting a technical foul for being there. James got him off the court–with authority.
Blatt was on the ref about a call against James, trying to fight for his player. James was pretty much returning the favor–“protecting my coach,” as he said afterwards. So it’s no big deal. But if Cleveland doesn’t, even LeBron James may not be able to protect his coach. And the push could come from management.
