Duke Men’s Basketball dismissed Junior guard Rasheed Sulaimon for being “unable to consistently live up to the standards required.” Sulaimon was averaging 7.5 points per game this season and led the Blue Devils in three-point shooting. Coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a news release: “It is a privilege to represent Duke University and with that privilege comes the responsibility to conduct oneself in a certain manner. After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program.” The release notes that Sulaimon is in good academic standing and is expected to finish the spring semester.
Prior to playing for Duke, Sulaimon played guard at Strake Jesuit College Prep in Houston, Texas. He was one of the best scorers in the 2012 class, known for “putting up huge numbers” and being a “high energy shooting guard that can get to the rim in transition or stop and knock down a pull up jumper.”
