The 2007 romantic comedy Norbit is Eddie Murphy’s best worst movie. In the film, Murphy plays the mild-mannered Norbit who’s engaged to a monstrous woman named Rasputia (also played by Murphy) who is reunited with his childhood friend Kate, the woman of his dreams (Thandie Newton). Throughout the film, Norbit schemes to find a way to be with Kate. With a big line-up of funnymen including Terry Crews, Katt Williams, Eddie Griffin, and Cuba Gooding Jr., Norbit was a commercial success but it was panned by critics.
Norbit was nominated for 7 Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Director (Brian Robbins, also of White Chicks). Eddie Murphy won 3 “Worst Actor” Golden Raspberry Awards for all three characters he plays in the film– Norbit, Rasputia and Mr. Wong.
