Tallulah Willis, the 20-year-old daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, shaved her head this week. She’s been posting lots of photos and videos of her new look. And she’s been comparing her new look to her mother’s shaved head in the 1997 military film G.I. Jane-and to the famous dome of the controversial Irish singer Sinead O’Connor.
In August, Tallulah spoke publicly about her struggles with self-esteem and body image. She said she was diagnosed with body dysmorphia because of “reading those stupid f—ing tabloids when I was like 13, feeling like I was just ugly, always.” She revealed that she starved herself and was down to 95 pounds. “I viewed super-skinny me as smart, intelligent. I was able to have the physical transformation so everyone could see me differently.” Body dysmorphia is a serious disorder. People with BDD suffer from obsessions about their appearance that can last for hours or up to an entire day. While Tallulah appears proud of her latest physical transformation — is her shaven head a cry out for help?
