Former WWE star Trish Stratus retired from wrestling in 2006 to open a yoga studio and start a line of health and fitness products including yoga DVDs. Now a successful entrepreneur, Stratus gets invited to speak at business and branding events including the Better Business Bureau of Wetern Ontario Awards.
During the Q&A part of the event, she was asked if professional wrestling matches are scripted. Stratus said “we know the beginning and the end. What happens in the ring is a dance the we do and a lot too is improv, staying in character and based on the reactions of the audience. It’s scripted, but the performances are real with real athletes.” She added, “It’s very much like Shakespeare with the fans cheering for the good guy and booing the bad guy.”
