At a United Nations event commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women this week, actress Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) recounted being molested by her uncle at the age of seven. When she learned that her uncle, Richard Hayes Stone, abused other young girls she approached a district attorney. Stone was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Hatcher hasn’t taken on many acting jobs since Desperate Housewives. She’s been busy keeping her almost 50 body in shape. Last month she ran the New York City Marathon in less than 5 hours and before that completed the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which requires entrants to swim in the Pacific Ocean and ride a bike for 40 kilometers.
