A 88-second teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out. Fans are up in arms about a lot of things including the new lightsaber. The hilt or guard (the handle that’s connected to the sword) of the new saber includes two additional red illuminated beams. Not all Star Wars fans like the change.
“It’s not a ‘sword with a guard’ it’s a sword with two smaller swords coming out of it,” wrote Sampson Brock who doesn’t understand how anyone will be able to wield it without cutting their own hands off. Others aren’t pleased with the size of the new saber. Dominic Crosskill wrote, “The problem isn’t the hilt, it’s that the thing is pencil thin.” There’s plenty of time to argue over such details. Star Wars: The Force Awakens won’t be out until December 2015.
