Actor David Hyde Pierce, best known for role as the pushover brother Niles on Frasier, is taking on Chicago politics on the CBS hit drama The Good Wife. In Season 6, Pierce is playing Frank Prady, a legal commentator on national TV who gets so fed up with the soaring crime rate in the Windy City, he decides to run for State’s Attorney. The news of his candidacy sends Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) into a tizzy — he could be a serious threat to his candidate, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies)–the Good Wife herself.
Real-life Chicago led the nation in homicides in 2013. Pierce’s character will no doubt bring up the city’s bloody Fourth of July weekend that left more than a dozen people dead and dozens injured.
