Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam kept a promise to a fan that he made 22 years ago. As Diffuser tells it, after a concert at Bogart’s in Cincinnati in 1992, fan Joe Wolfe ran into the band at a local movie theater (the grunge rockers were there to see Wayne’s World, which just goes to show that the movie was once considered, you know, cool). He would have asked for a photo with Vedder, but as Wolfe says “There weren’t camera phones back then and he said he would do a picture with me the next time I saw him.” 22 years later Vedder was back in Cincinnati. Wolfe got to meet him again and reminded him of the photo promise.
The little reunion turned out well for Wolfe. Even though Vedder thought that Wolfe had stolen his joint at Bogart’s all those years ago, once he realized his mistake, he was a true gentleman. “Although Vedder initially said no on the spot, Wolfe eventually got WAY more than a pic: After the concert, not only did the Pearl Jam singer pose for a picture, but he also invited Wolfe backstage and gave him a guitar pick and autograph,” reports consequenceofsound.net.
