Actor Donald Glover of the NBC comedy Community, aka rapper Childish Gambino, released the STN MTN half of his mixtape STN MTN / KAUAI. Billboard says it has a raw mixtape sound, “complete with unlicensed samples and DJ Drama hollering in the background, so Kauai [the other half] will likely include the more polished tracks like Sober.”
Gambino said Sober is “Michael Jackson-esque,” and he wants his music to feel as important as the late icon’s did. “I want everything I do to be an event,” Glover says. Glover just joined the cast of the Magic Mike male stripping sequel, Magic Mike XXL. Fans of both Glover and Gambino are hoping for a MJ inspired strip tease. Magic Mike XXL will be in theaters July 1, 2015.
