Three-time NBA champion and all-around superstar Dwyane Wade married the beautiful and talented actress Gabrielle Union this weekend in Miami, home of Wade’s Miami Heat. It’s widely believed that the 9-year age difference between bride and groom is the largest gap between married celebrities worth more than a hundred million dollars! Wait, that’s only if you’re talking about the woman being older. If you’re talking about men who are worth $100 million marrying women ten years younger, that list is a LOT longer. (Caveat: there are 12 years between Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, but they broke up.)
And while this does happen sometimes in the acting world (Ashton Kutcher-Demi Moore, for example) it’s even more rare in the universe of big time sports. Lance Armstrong was almost a decade younger than singer Sheryl Crowe–and they were a half-sports couple for a while. But as goes contemporary couples, Wade and Union stand alone–we think. Wade is 32 and Union 41. Union uses her experience well, too.
