The FX drama Sons of Anarchy begins its final season September 9. And it’s going to be one of the most brutally violent sendoffs in TV history. In the first episode of Season 7, motorcycle club leader Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is in jail, beating the crap out of people with his fists wrapped in duct tape. He’s in jail because he’s not talking about who killed his wife Tara (with a fork!). The truth is he doesn’t know it was his own mother Gemma (Katey Sagal) who confides in a truck stop waitress played by Glee star Lea Michele.
Out of jail, Jax seeks revenge for the woman he loves and admits that he “doesn’t have a vision anymore.” He wants the unconditional support of his bike club and it looks like he’s going to get it. TV critic Brian Lowry at Variety reminds us that “When the series began, the show dabbled in the notion of a Shakespearean battle for Jax’s soul, waged between the memory of his dead father and how bad he had to become operating under his stepfather’s reign.” The final season will reveal how that struggle turns out.
