Season 5 of the BBC hit Downton Abbey won’t air in the States until January 2, 2015 (it premieres in the UK on September 21) but the trailers have American fans breathlessly awaiting its return. Deftly produced teasers give brief glimpses of courtship and kisses but it’s impossible to figure out who’s flirting with whom. Is that Branson with whom Lady Mary is flirting? And who’s that in bed with Jimmy, Lady Anstruther?
The theme of Season 5 appears to be change. Everyone in the trailer for the show is talking about the world changing and how Downton is catching up with the times they live in (not everyone is happy about it). But Downton Abbey fans can be assured that the show’s stunning cinematography, costumes, hair, music, and witty dialogue haven’t changed.
