The Kansas City Chiefs’ fans once held the Guinness Book of World Records record for being the loudest crowd during a game. They’d like to get the record back tonight at Arrowhead Stadium against the New England Patriots, who bring a quarterback named Tom Brady who’s not exactly known for getting rattled. But Monday Night Football has a way of amping up the atmosphere–and Chiefs fans will do their best to bring the noise. The most knowledgeable Chiefs fans even have a backup plan, which involves a backup. Patriots rookie Bryan Stork might get the start at center for the Pats. Bryan Stork is pretty tough--but if Chiefs fans can’t rattle Tom Brady they can at least give Stork, who’ll be snapping him the ball, a mighty hard hollering.
Then again Chiefs fans might not think Tom Brady is so special, the way other teams do. Last time Brady played at Arrowhead it was on another Monday night nine years ago, and the Patriots star quarterback threw FOUR interceptions in a 26-16 loss. Add to that history the fact that this year the Pats have already been called for four false starts in three games. The Pats offense, even in more sedate places, isn’t executing smoothly. Anything could happen tonight. The only known known, as Donald Rumsfeld might say, is that the decibel level will be deafeningly high. 8:30 PM on ESPN.
