YouTube breakout singer Austin Mahone is often compared to Justin Bieber because, well, Austin looks like him, dances like him and sings like him. In 2011, Austin posted a video covering Justin Bieber’s “Mistletoe.” (He had braces back then.) Austin is now 18 years old, Justin is 20 years old. Unlike Justin, Austin has no prior arrests.
It’s been a good year for good boy Austin. He was nominated as an “Artist to Watch” at the MTV Video Music Awards and he just finished a 30-city summer tour with opening acts by Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes and Alex Angelo. With his EP “The Secret” doing so well, he can now return to his studio in Miami and finish his first full-length album. He says he’ll continue to work the NSYNC, Backstreet Boys vibe. He explained: “…the style I was going for [on The Secret] was more of that NSYNC, Backstreet Boys vibe, ’cause I knew a lot of the older girls like that, so I wanted to get some older fans as well. So I just put that out there for everyone and I definitely get a lot more people who have tweeted me and Facebooked me saying, ‘I’ve become an Austin Mahone fan now. I see he’s trying new styles and new things.'”
