Zedd’s electro house music is featured on Ariana Grande’s hit Break Free. (They’re going to perform the song, opening MTV’s big VMA show together.) Zedd produced three songs on Lady Gaga’s 2013 album, Artpop. He’s even written a song for Katy Perry. But Zedd (born Anton Zaslavski) is best known for the song Clarity featuring Foxes. Clarity won Zedd (and Cedric Gervais) a Grammy for Best Dance Recording earlier this year.
The classically trained German/Russian musician began playing piano at the age of four and drums at twelve. And there’s no stopping him now at the grand old age of 24. His latest song, Stay the Night, is nominated for an MTV Clubland Award at the VMAs. Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, sings on the track. Idolator editor Mike Wass called Stay the Night “another soaring house anthem with massive crossover potential.”
