In towering heels and a white skirt that should make anyone who’s seen it forget all about Nicki Minaj’s attention-grabbing Anaconda derriere, tennis superstar Serena Williams took time out of her US Open prep to visit David Letterman’s Late Show. The two stars got outside and knocked the ball around a little on the street–and then Serena took aim at Dave’s fave Hello Deli. The plate glass window had no chance.
The Letterman staff went to a lot of trouble closing off the NYC street before they hit. This was clearly unnecessary, since one look at Serena would have stopped traffic anyway. Williams has had a frustrating year with an awkward exit at Wimbledon and a big fail at the French, but New York is her second home and she’ll be looking to shatter opponents like so many Hello Delis in the coming weeks. Letterman introduced her as “your next US Open Champion.” The Open starts in Queens Monday.
