Pulitzer Prize finalist poet Forrest Gander helped Beyonce write the poem “Bey the Light.” It’s published in CR Fashion Book. The poem begins: “It’s my daughter, she’s my biggest muse/ There’s someone, we all find out soon,/ more important than ourselves to lose.” Surrounding the poem is a dizzying array of photos of Beyonce, including one black-and-white shot of Bey posing with a Chanel surfboard.
Poet Forrest Gander is promoting his second novel, The Trace, about a stressed couple whose car breaks down in the middle of the Mexican desert. It will be released in November. You can hear him read dramatically from the book in his trailer.
