The 17-year-old singing sensation Lorde rocked the music world with her single ‘Royals,’ and then produced the hit ‘Safe & Sound’ for the film Hunger Games. With that kind of immediate recording success, it’s no wonder that Lorde has been tapped to create the lead single for the upcoming ‘Mockingjay’ soundtrack. In fact, the young New Zealand pop star is curating the entire Mockingjay soundtrack.
Lorde told MTV that there will be plenty of surprises on the soundtrack. “…there are some people on there that you’re going to be super surprised by. You’ll be like, what? I haven’t heard from them in ages…but in a great way.” We know she likes Tears For Fears and The Replacements, she’s done covers of their songs. And she claims Etta James and Otis Redding are some of her biggest influences. But Kanye West and Prince are too. As Lorde told Billboard recently: “I feel like mystery is more interesting.”
