The 18-year-old daughter of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin, model Ireland Baldwin, attended the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards with her romantic girlfriend, Angel Haze, a 23-year-old rapper. Haze’s video Battle Cry (featuring Sia) was nominated for a VMA in the Best Video with a Social Message category. Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” won.
In June, Haze said in an interview with The Independent: “An interracial gay couple, I mean that’s just weird for American right now,” she said. Haze is of mixed African and Native American ancestry. In Battle Cry, Haze sings: “It’s hard to explain my way of living to people who never lived it / A minute in my position filled with my opposition.”
