Actor Don Cheadle has been nominated seven times for an Emmy, but he hasn’t won one. Yet. For his role as marketing consultant Marty Kaan on Showtime’s House of Lies, he’s been nominated three consecutive years for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. (He did win a Golden Globe for the role in 2013.)
Sure, Cheadle enjoys his TV gig but music is his passion. This summer he started an Indiegogo fundraising campaign for his directorial debut – Miles Ahead – an independent, biopic of legendary jazz trumpet player Miles Davis. Cheadle raised the $345k and started filming this summer in Cincinnati with Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge, Trainspotting). McGregor plays reporter Dave Brill, who Miles enlists to retrieve a recording stolen from the musician’s home.
