Sprint Corp’s new CEO Marcelo Claure has said price cutting would be his top priority and he’s delivering. Sprint will offer consumers an unprecedented 10 lines and 20 gigs of data for $100, something even the deeply discounted T-Mobile can’t match. (Not yet, anyway.) Claure told Reuters: “The message is simple: We are back in the game. We are going to offer most competitive value for American consumers.”
Verizon and AT&T, comfortably on top of the mobile heap with the best networks, nevertheless did have to react to T-Mobile’s deep discounting last year. Both frontrunners adjusted pricing. Now with two companies–Sprint and T-Mobile–brandishing pricing as the battle weapon of choice, consumers may be in for a treat.
