America’s Next Top Twaddle
The Wall Street Journal asked several celebrities to write about the future of their particular industries. Taylor Swift offered insights from her experience on how the contemporary music scene is changing and how in some ways it will always remain the same. Mark Zuckerberg weighed in on…any guesses? (HINT: think Internet). Tyra Banks, however, pulled no punches.
The supermodel and host of America’s Next Top Model offered some startling (and, it must be said, totally baseless) predictions on what the world of beauty and cosmetics will look like down the road. Among her more out-there calls are a formula that will increase hair’s length and thickness in twenty-four hours, technology that will allow women to give birth well after their hundredth year, and pills that being ingested will bring about instant (though, alas, temporary) physical changes like “contoured cheekbones, rosy cheeks, arched eyebrows.” Though maybe it’s not all so far-fetched after all–readers may find their eyebrows arched after swallowing just a few of Tyra’s theories. No reason a pill couldn’t do the same.
