Big news hit Hollywood this week. Jodie Foster will direct George Clooney in the thriller Money Monster, which Clooney is producing. The script is being written by Ghost Whisperer and Grimm TV hacks, Alan DiFiore and Jim Kouf. Their years of experience in the TV biz will come in handy. Money Monster is about “a TV show host who gets taken hostage by a gunman while on-air and is forced to reveal high-stakes secrets to his (steadily increasing) audience in order to survive.”
It’s easy to imagine CNBC’s Mad Money host Jim Cramer in this kind of scenario. We suspect DiFiore and Kouf will take Mad Money head writer Cliff Mason out to lunch. He wrote Cramer’s bestselling books Jim Cramer’s Mad Money: Watch TV, Get Rich; Stay Mad For Life: Get Rich, Stay Rich (Make Your Kids Even Richer); and Getting Back to Even. The last was published in 2009, the book mostly presents rules for trying to recover from losses.
